Materials Scientists and Engineers are trained to understand and manipulate the structure, processing, and properties of materials for optimal performance. Applications span diverse fields, including energy materials, biomaterials, metallurgy, ceramics, semiconductors, aerospace, etc. We understand these materials starting from their atomic arrangements, and scaling up to manufacturing processes. Our students enjoy substantial hands-on lab experiences as well, designing, fabricating, characterizing, and evaluating. This strongly positions today’s MS&E students for well respected jobs, inventing and improving the materials that will improve lives tomorrow.
