…before MSE grew the faculty by 25% and our research funding by 50%
Although it was another year of Covid-related challenges, MSE and our graduates have much to celebrate. That includes an unprecedented 11 point jump in our national program ranking, record research funding, faculty and students in key leadership roles across the campus, a Fulbright award, tv news features for our student-led NASA Big Idea Challenge, and others.
Note that we will continue to staff the MSE office in-person every day, with mask and vaccine requirements following campus safety protocols. As with everything in the Covid era, we encourage you to use email or tele/web conferencing whenever possible.
-Bryan Huey, MSE Department Head
Materials Science is present in nearly every field of engineering, and in every aspect of your modern world. The demand for newer, stronger, cheaper, lighter, more functional and more sustainable materials is inherent in all types of industries. Materials science and engineering majors develop the materials that make the technologies we use in our everyday lives better.
At a school as large as UConn, it is difficult to narrow down your choices for a major. We understand the weight of this decision, and we want to give you a choice that will enhance your mind with a bright future. Consider Materials Science and Engineering as the right path for you.
